My lovely sister, Brandyn, gave birth to her two adorable children this past Tuesday (June 5, 2012). She and her husband, Shawn, named their little boy Elias and their little girl Amelia. I sadly was not able to be presently shortly after the birth, but thanks to my dear family I have been able to get heads up on the events and photos of the babies.

This is Amelia stretched out while sleeping. I have to say that she is very cute. She was born at 5 lbs 15oz.

This is Amelia bundled up and sucking on her hand. I think there is something about the picture that makes her hand look large and gremlin like. The earlier photo shows her hands looking much more proportional to the rest of her body. 

 

 

Three days after birth Amelia stopped breathing. Shawn breathed for her a few times until she started breathing on her own again. They took her to the emergency room and she seemed to be doing alright. They decided to put her in the NICU for monitoring. Here she is under UV light so she can get some vitamin D.

Little Elias also had some breathing difficulties, but at a different stage. Elias came of the womb blue, but started breathing on his own. He didn't act normally at first, so they put him in the NICU under cool down for 3 days. The cooler temperatures would prevent any or any more brain damage. Elias was born at 5lbs 7oz. Elias is such a cute little guy, but this picture saddens me. The specialist feel Elias will be very well, and since he has come out of cool down their has been little to prove otherwise (well at least far as I know).
